Design a Mission

    In this post we are going to talk about how to design a Mission. All mission can consist of the following components:

    Start Point
    End Point
    Timers
    Notifications
    Dialog Boxes with Options
    Mob Spawns
    Counter
    Reward

    All missions have a Start and End point. This can be a NPC or an Area Box. You can name the NPC.

    Start Point triggers an Action Forward -- what to do next.

    End Point is where the mission completes.

    Timers can be used set the length of time to complete a mission or a task. Timers can be stacked as well. Example you have 5 minutes to complete the mission and when you go under water you will die in 30 seconds if you do not come back up.

    Notifications show in the mission tracker and can be used to update missions or pass on new data.

    Dialog Boxes with options are used to interact with the player. NPC "What do you want punk?" Player Option One - "To find the TP" Option Two "You would not understand" and continues like that to completion.

    Mob Spawns can cause mobs both in type and number to appear at a location.

    Counter can be used to keep track of mobs killed.

    Reward if any for completing the mission.

    So now knowing this how would you design a mission? Please post your mission designs to this thread.

    Things to keep in mind:

    1. It takes a developer time to fill in your mission. Simple missions can be done in an hour or two. More complicated missions can take several days of developer time.

    2. The grid system in the test server does not match the grid system in the game. So take screen shots that clearly show where things should happen and post directions to that screen shot.

    Going to have to think about this... Read or heard somewhere that there is going to be more gta style stuff as a goal/theme type of thing... As an avid player of gta 3 series on ps2 I think it may be possible to do that type of stuff without directly copying it, especially with the way the game is set up now around CND, New Harlem, and Tangerine... Has anyone ever done much with the race track on secret island? Race game inspired things come to mind.... or something inspired by something a bit older like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cannonball_Run

    Is there a list of all NPCs on Rocktropia? I know there's info on the wiki, but just wondering if we could make a list here in the forum for easy access that lists nearest tp, coordinates, etc., and perhaps a link or description of the current missions they are associated with? Would make sense to build missions off of the existing npcs instead of creating a new npc.
